AN OPEN LETTER TO TAYLOR SWIFT
My name is Christopher Payne, I am a 27 year old Los Angeles native, and I have been performing under the moniker Whitman for more than eleven years. I have been listening to your music for some time and I can't help but feel that there is a thread of similarity in my music and yours. In a world filled with so much meaningless music I am always impressed by the sincerity of your songs. They feel very personal. I have always written about things that are very personal to me and in a way each of my songs are like a story, or a fragment of a larger story and your music evokes the same feeling in me that I am trying to portray in my own music. It can be a daring thing to write songs like this. Letting the listener in that close can either really connect with them or really disengage them.
I am writing you because I would like to collaborate with you on a song. Despite what might be considered drastic differences in the sound of our music, I feel like we could create something together that is both unique and memorable. I am writing you this in the form of an open letter because I feel that it is perhaps the best chance I have of you actually reading it. If you do indeed read this letter and are interested in discussing the possibility of a collaboration further, you can contact me via the email link below.
